Ov Satanic Shipping and the Beginning of the End - Final call for Cernunnos and Corum

Shipping has at last been implemented in the pledgemanager at backerkit and you can now visit your survey and check your final balance. If you have lost your survey or don’t want to go search for it, you can request your link to be sent to you on this page:

The shipping being solved means we’re starting to advertise the pre-order store on different social media and so on, so you’re probably going to see some ads for Astro flying around the coming months.

We’re still have not decided when we're closing the survey and charging your credit cards. Right now it's looking like it'll be somewhere in October, but there will be updates to keep you informed long before that happens. Until then, you can use the survey to change your shipping address or change any of your add ons or add new ones if you’d like.


SECOND

Development is coming along great even if the summer has been somewhat slow.
Pedro is in the last part of curating the mechanics chapters.
Lore chapters are starting to be finalized and we’re currently testing a new writer to enhance the finished chapters and evolving existing ones.
We’ve used this summer to utilize different AI engines to create art for different aspects of the game such as the Tarot - and it is looking awesome! All art in this update are created using an AI art engine.


We've reicived submissions from most Cernunnos and Corum backers, but we're a couple short, so if you have yet to send in your submission get that going. We'll be starting feedback on submissions this coming week and probably will start chasing stragglers in the wake of the first waves of feedback.

Timewise, we’re still at a good heading!

THIRD

I’d like to talk a little about one of the subsystems in the game related to items, looting and crafting and in some ways also alchemy and pharmacy. We call them consumables.

Consumables are stuff that you can use once before it is “consumed”. Elixirs, grenades and weapon augmentations. Whenever you find, create or harvest one of these, you or the GM create them with random fragments, creating a unique object to be used. Depending on the interpretation of the fragments, these can be interchangeable between categories. A fire potion can be thrown like a grenade, a gate grenade can be used to travel between locations and creative players will probably turn elixirs into ammunition to be used as augmentations or the other way round. Consumables are often thought of like hand held vials, flasks or some mechanic constructions, bu in Astro Inferno consumables can crawl away, be digital transmissions, or even words of a poem. A digital code spreading a virus to all who watches the sequence of a blinking light, or a row of words healing the first one who listens.


It’s a really nifty system and we think you’re going to have a blast exploring it. Combining systems are also fun, and a witch or alchemist can let’s say, turn a living insect grenade into a Nexus Shell, creating a crawling - grenade - ritual. What a time to be damned!

FIRST
The Siren has engulfed the studio and not much has been finished since the updated Beta was released. 


Pedro still works on curating the mechanic chapters and actually already has gone over some of the sections in Conflict and main Mechanics. He’s currently fixing the sections on Auditions with masters, the Art of Dying and soon will go into the item and looting chapter that is pretty massive. We did a huge Meta dive into fringe stuff in the lore, that probably never will see the light of day, but it’s cool that it’s there anyways.

Curtis is writing snippets and Helge is working on the second installment of illustrations.

I’m still finishing up the mechanics parts and outlining the larger lore bits that will be rewritten later. We actually are about to hire another writer for that task, since we want the mythic parts to be prevalent in most of them and to bolster an archaic, yet easy read language that can give that feeling of dark myth and dread we’re after.


SECOND
We are also almost done with shipping and we’ll be able to add shipping to the pledge manager later this month which makes everything a lot easier for all of us.

We’re also told that any bonus add-ons that backers have managed to snatch through devious schemes WILL be added to the cart of the pledge manager, and this will happen pretty much at the same time as shipping is sorted out.


All in all a very slow month, but hey! Hell was not built in one day, it took 6!

Ov Beta 2.0 - blood and violence

 FIRST
 The Beta 2.0 is now officially out and can be downloaded from the link on the kickstarter or the links down below. You can create a soul and in some limited fashion experience what a somewhat “normal” soul would be in Astro Inferno. So take it for a spin. Create a soul and give us your thoughts, everything can be improved!

(STUFF NOT MAKING IT TO THE BETA - MAGIC - CRAFTING - LOOTING - JOURNEY - ALL THE COOL STUFF)

 We also share a short little adventure called the Festering Heart. Because of it not being available yet, we sadly can’t showcase lots of the features we wanted in this adventure such as the fantastic looting system, the journey system or the cool ritual features.


   But nonetheless it’s a small, over the top epic, little story that showcases a slice of what Astro Inferno can be. Enjoy!

SECOND
 Now that the final Beta is out (we’re not planning on making any larger updates, only tweaks and balancing to the Beta moving forward) - we can focus on getting the full game done. The summer awaits us here in Sweden, with days brighter than a thousand suns and night equally so. But we assure you, we have installed thick fucking curtains in our studio and daylight will never catch us - in it’s burning embrace.

THIRD  

Now with the Beta out we’d like to give you a small round down on the conflict and wound system especially. Fighting in Astro Inferno is not like other games because of the possibility of massive over violence without the fear of characters dying (they will die anyway). But the feeling to have your character being impaled by a telephone pole through the stomach and spending the next verse chopping away at it to get free, is in loss for better words, exhilarating.    


It is not a case that you can take more damage in Astro Inferno, but the characters are beyond death and many victorious conflicts end with all characters falling to their knees bleeding out, dying on the spot or trying to save themselves or their friends by gruesome acts such as mashing entrails back into an open wound or fitting a spine into an open back.

Conflict can be as violent and hilarious as you want because of this. Make the characters fight with their limbs flying, their jaws torn from their faces and their heart ripped out of their chest! Make their flesh rain in chunks by blowing them up with a rocket launcher in the first scene, they'll thank you for it!
